This character was created for the Kickstarter campaign of the book Board Games That Tell Stories.

The Sailor character is Ignacy's nemesis. He tried to design it in 2012 for the base game, but he didn't succeed. One year later he tried it again for the expansion Voyage of the Beagle, but failed at it again. The book's campaign was a success, and Ignacy promised to give the Sailor character another chance. And here it is.

The sailor is a great swimmer, so you can discard two determination tokens to ignore river tiles when calculating distance on the island.
